David and Goliath- MY OWN EVENT - it's a modern twist on an ancient tale
The back story:
My New York property in Hyde Park, recently sold after six years and seven real estate agents.
I owned this property for twenty years, renovated a circa 1900 farmhouse into a lovely French themed inn.
The inn was opened for fifteen years.
I had two other rentals on the property, and one that I lived in for twenty years.
Real estate agents could NOT sell this property so I decided to hire an auction house, which was referred to me by a very good friend
She also knew the owner since college.
It took me a year to make the decision after talking to the CEO. This firm is located in Pennsylvania.
I did not realize, however, that my lovely property would be turned over to the worst auction house in New York, once the actual auction began.
Here is the DAVID and GOLIATH twist:
My biggest fear was that DEVELOPERS WOULD SABOTAGE the sale.
THAT IS EXACTLY what happened.
Two abominable developers were “ playing” to out bid each other on the day of the auction.
They were NOT bidding over $600,000
The fair market value is over $1 million....
That number, $600,000 would have forced me into bankruptcy and the auctioneer at the Dutchess County Auction house knew damn well that $600,000 was NOT a fair bid for my property.
I strongly believe that he is in cahoots with developers and gets a “ piece” of the action.
WELL…
HERE comes my DAVID.
My neighbors,( I have known the family for twenty two years), sat at my dining table..and we outwitted these slimy developers.
AND WE OUT BID THESE THIEVING DEVELOPERS.
MY 40 acres, renovated farmhouse and two rentals will NEVER BE IN THE HANDS OF DEVELOPERS.
The NEW owwners are the best people ever to own my property.
I just cried and cried with absolute HAPPINESS .
Closing is October 13, Thursday.
I am so happy and grateful for my neighbors. The fact that they stepped in and saved my property, saved me from bankruptcy is a true David and Goliath event.
They LOVE the property and will keep it as it is.
